Tis The Season...

...To get married.

We just confirmed: Josh and I are flying to Chicago for his cousin's Black Tie Optional Wedding. I have not attended a wedding ceremony since dearly beloved Courtney and Adam, as long as you don't include the season finale of Grey's Anatomy (shocked!). One of my favorite things to do at weddings is critique. Yes, those flower garlands are tasteful. These mini-quiches are gross. The bride's hair and make-up look beautiful. There should be more slow dance music because I'm exhausted. When I was much, much younger, weddings were the stuff Disney movies are made of, and I fantasised about them all the time. But now when I think about planning a ceremony, I think hassle. And money. Expectations. Money. Disappointment. Not too long ago, I decided that I'd rather elope to Vegas and get married by Elvis than to have a wedding that was less than perfect.

But what's most exciting about this wedding invitation is that I get to buy a new dress and possibly shoes! I started shopping online today, and almost hyperventilated, much, much more excited than a child in a toy store.

Here are my exciting new prospects:
